Previously Windows XP user, I just bought a new desktop which has Windows Vista pre-installed under the impression that I would get a free upgrade to Windows 7 as soon as the full version is released. My beef with Windows Vista is most of all when using the Internet (IE7 and I do not want IE8), several times a day the “Internet stopped working” message pops up, and then closes down the browser and restarts it, this is getting just too annoying! I have read all the “reset” suggestions and tried them… nothing works. So what are my options short of returning the desktop and buying a mac instead? When and how can I get Windows 7, and yes, I want it free. Thank you. I actually asked this question on the Windows forum. I am annoyed and I have browsed Q&As before posting, knowing that I’m not the only “brainless” person w/ this problem, I did not expect some “genius” to give useless wise-a$$ answers! trolls! an upgrade should be free so people won’t wait to buy until after Windows 7 is released, so MS can make money now…. just makes sense!

Hi, First of all yes vista sucks, it sucks so much that Microsoft fired the people it though responsible and decided to make Windows 7. By the way you can already download Windows 7 (RC1 – the final test version – free) here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx Try clearing Internet explorers cache – tools > delete browsing history, tick all the boxes and hit ok or whatever. You could also try using firefox instead if you don’t want IE8: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html If you like the mac web browser, you can download it for windows here: http://www.apple.com/safari/ All the best!
