Okay, suppose I write code, so that when file X on a webserver, says “BLAH”, the program starts continuously sending e-mails every 10 seconds to my brother. (I know how to do that) And then, can I hide this code in my normal software, and then LEGALLY distribute it to a lot of people for free? And when I edit the file to “BLAH”, and hundreds of my programs copies all start continuously sending e-mails to my brother, his hotmail inbox will be full in under an hour! Muhahahahaahaha… But can and might hotmail sue me doing for this? BTW the people who downloaded my software will never know… And can someone PLEASE help me find a simplized version of “The Computer Code of Ethics”… So, next time, I know what is legal, and what is not? And is it legal for my program to send me sound recordings from other people’s computers? How about getting screenshots?… If I write in a 1 pt. font that the program can allow me to do that? Sophie, so you’re saying this isn’t legal? Oh, and I’m SURE my brother won’t report me to the police or take any legal action against me Well, I’m sure that this will work… I’ve done this with three of my home computers before, ejected all 3 of their cd trays. at once. I oversimplified my explanation of how it would work, but it’s pretty easy to do.
Answer:
no; it is not legal, Even if you have the permission of your brother the traffic you generate most likely violates the terms of service of the entity that provides his mail.
