The Sony KDL46W4100 is an appealing and completely featured LCD television. We were generally impressed by its performance, black color is very dark, accurate white colors and a bright display. But there are negatives, as the color reproduction is a little off and the viewing angle are not quite great.
If you look often some type of fast moving action on your TV, then this HDTV television has got a lot of things to offer you. The Sony KDL46W4100 performed well in our motion tests. We experienced fluid movement with videos that contained lots of movement, and the display had no problem serving a good image.
This Sony televison supports a full 1080p or real HD picture. The choice of input and output ports is nice, including four HDMI ports. Too bad that this TV doesn’t have a USB port or some card reader.
This TV also provides TruSurround which is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of running 5.1 channel sound through two channel speaker systems. TruSurround presents a excellent virtual surround sound with any two speaker sound system, including it’s own TV speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels.
This television also has 3 sound improving technologies to reproduce an brilliant sound. Outstanding sound with the solid image quality truly makes this Sony Bravia TV a great one.
The Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 executed well in our testing of of dark and white colors. Blacks were precise deep, especially for an LCD TV of this price tag. Whites and greys were brilliant and precise.
This television really has superior colors, we have seen consistent whites and a clean, true representation of the primary colors from which image on the screen is made. We were satisfied with the coloring, but we have noticed a really small problem with the televisions color gamut, and that means colors maybe won’t always be precisely they should.
The largest issue with this LCD TV is a viewing angle. Looking from aside we found that the contrast ratio was {decreasing}. Contrast is the difference in reproducing the black and light colors. This tv set has a small viewing angle, even for an LCD TV, which usually don’t perform as well in this area as Plasma TVs.
The remote control of Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 is nice, comfortable to hold and well laid out with the exception that the controls for direction are at the different ends of the remote from the volume pushes. The menu on the TV is like of that used in the Playstation 3, and it will require some time getting used to it.
Power consumption is around average. You can have turned on this TV and you don’t need to worry that you will get a big bill for electrics.
This Sony KDL46W4100 is a really good television, with a a lot of features and excellent handling on almost all fields. The viewing angle matter will be serious for pickier ones. If you want a TV is going to sit in a room where people will be looking at it from all angles you may want to go with a Plasma. If this isn’t an problem for you, then you will be getting your money’s value with the Sony KDL46W4100.
