This article explains how you can have a fully reliable computing experience, escape all computer repair hassles and expenses forever, and save a ton of money too.

The Problem

You’re in the middle of a big project for an important client, with a deadline looming, and your computer starts acting funny. And then it dies. You already know what happens next.

Confusion. Delays. Errands. Stress. Repair technicians. Working on an unfamiliar computer. Embarrassing excuses to the client. And of course, an unexpected and unwelcome repair bill. Geez, what a hassle!

Are you ready to leave this part of your computing life behind, once and for all forever? Are you ready to save some money doing it too?

It’s easy, let’s go for it!

The Solution

Buy cheap used computers, instead of expensive new ones. Yes, I know, it sounds nuts at first, but it really does work. Here’s how. We can buy 3 used computers for significantly less than we’d pay for one new computer. Computers depreciate in value dramatically over just a few years, even though they may still be perfectly suitable for most user’s routine daily needs.

As example, I’m typing this article on a 10 year old $79 used Mac. 79 bucks! It does 98% of everything I want to do to make my living online, and the other 2% doesn’t really matter. Because I’m paying only $79 for my computer, I can easily afford to buy a couple of them. This is how we leave the land of computer repairs behind forever.

When lightning recently knocked out the network card on the computer I was using, I didn’t panic, grind my teeth, or call a repairman. I just set the dead computer aside, and booted up one of the back up machines. Downtime, less than 2 minutes! No sweat, no swearing, still smiling.

The Secret Strategy For Safety

A key part of our safe and reliable computing lifestyle is to keep all of our files on an external hard drive, which is faithfully backed up to a 2nd external hard drive.

When one computer gets sick, we can simply reconnect the external hard drive containing our files to a another computer, and keep right on working. We can afford two external hard drives with the money we won’t be spending on a new computer. Or maybe we have a few extra hard drives on hand already.

A Money Saving Solution

What’s really cool is that having a stress free computing lifestyle actually costs less than buying a new computer. Buying one new computer costs somewhere between $500 and $2000. And then we have ONE computer. If something happens to that one computer, we’ve got problems.

Buying 3 used computers at $100 each costs $300. Now if something happens to our computer, we don’t have a problem. Instead, we have 2 spare computers, sitting right under our desk, ready to go to work for us on a moment’s notice.

So the question for us as computer shoppers is: Do we want an unreliable computer setup for $500 – $2000? Or a fully reliable computer setup for $300?

But, Aren’t New Computers More Reliable?

I know, that’s what I thought for years too. It sounds logical, but it’s just not how the computer industry works. Remember, that big impressive brand name company you bought your computer from didn’t make your computer. They assembled it, from parts they’ve bought from all kind of companies you’ve never heard of, from all over the world.

And the computer makers just don’t have the time to test each part installed in each machine. They ship the new machine to you and me, and let us test it. Do you want this job? Is this why you bought a computer? Nope, me neither.

What I’ve learned after buying dozens of new and used computers over the last 15 years is that there isn’t really any difference between new and used computers in terms of reliability. Sometimes we get lucky, and sometimes we don’t, no matter what we buy.

How To Buy A Used Computer

The ideal way to buy a used computer is from a local friend you trust. But, that option isn’t always available. The next best option is to buy used computers from companies who specialize in selling used computers, and who offer a 30 day warranty.

Here are some tips on buying from companies who sell used computers.

1) Do some Net research on the company first. If the seller is a bad actor, it shouldn’t be hard to find complaints online. Visit forums for the kind of computer you want, and ask for advice.

2) Once you find a seller of used computers who treats you right, be loyal to them. Resist the temptation to shop around because somebody else might be $5 cheaper. You’re already saving a ton of money by not buying a new computer, be happy with that.

3) Buy the oldest computer that still meets your needs. By “your needs” I don’t mean every cool feature you’ve read about somewhere. Be realistic, how do you actually use your computer on a day to day basis? Remember, the older the computer you buy, the better of a deal you’ll get.

Is This For You?

This strategy won’t work for everybody, because some of us really do need the cutting edge features found only on the newest computers. But for most of us, full reliability, a hassle free experience, and saving money, is a more important feature than the latest whiz bang gadget gizmos found on the new machines.

Buy cheap used computers. Once you get used to not having computer problems, you’ll never go back.

Whether it’s Conflickr or a new fake anti-virus program, it seems like spyware and viruses are inescapable for any computer hooked up to the internet. It’s estimated that the amount spent annually on security software in the US has risen to over $800 million in recent years, but PCs are still getting infected daily. Why aren’t we virus free yet?

The answer lies in the nature of malicious programming. Computer viruses don’t spring up out of the blue, they’re designed by programmers who either have nothing better to do and think it’ll be interesting, or professionals who make money by abusing your computer. Whenever anti-virus companies are told about a new virus, they create a new definition for their anti-virus software to help isolate and remove that virus if it is downloaded onto your PC. Once the new definition is widespread enough that a significant proportion of computers are safe against that virus, a newer one is created by the malicious programmers and the cycle starts again. Almost 2,000 new viruses were identified every day in 2007, and the problem isn’t going away any time soon. This is the reason why you need to allow your anti-virus software to download new virus definitions so often.

Annoyed hackers tired of the quick turnover of “regular” viruses have graduated to attacking your computer’s defences directly: your anti-virus software. Many new viruses include programming that either hides itself specifically from several popular anti-virus programs, stops them from downloading new virus definitions, or shuts them down completely. Even when these new viruses are identified quickly, many PCs will already be infected and the software on the machines won’t be able to remove the virus. In circumstances where one virus shuts down the anti-virus software entirely, other viruses will often infect the machine and can render it inoperable in a couple of hours if not minutes. Still other nasty viruses employ tricks to avoid removal methodologies, and will re-infect a machine after an anti-virus program or a user tries to delete them.

The fight against computer viruses is non-stop, but you can do something to help shield your system. Installing a good anti-virus program and allowing it to update frequently is just the first step, but be wary of fake anti-virus programs you may find online (many of these are viruses themselves). The fake anti-virus programs normally go by the names : Antivirus 2010 Pro, Windows Pro Police, System Guard 2009, Personal Antivirus, Antispyware XP 2009, and many more. You can see a pattern in how they name themselves. Never download anything from a person or website you don’t trust, never open a suspicious email (you don’t always have to open the attachments to become infected), and do not go to websites with a poor reputation. If you take these steps and your personal computer still gets infected, have a trained professional remove the virus for you instead of attempting to remove it yourself. Modern viruses can be awfully difficult to isolate and remove, and it’s very simple to hurt your system accidentally while attempting to remove one.

If you’ve got a slow computer and think you’re infected, call Geek Choice today. Our techs have the tools required for proper virus removal and have access to fast breaking news about new types of viruses and their removal. Geek Choice is countrywide on-site computer repair company.

What would you do when your computer suddenly behaves awkwardly? For most people, if they find that there is something wrong with their unit, they will instantly throw it away and then buy a new one to avoid wasting time but they are wasting a lot of money. Frankly speaking, according to several tech support services reviews, lots of people know how to use a computer but don’t know how to fix it when the need arises. That’s why, in every computer, there is always this Remote Assistance that can be a great medium to get help from someone you know who is an expert and virtually take over your PC wherever he is. And today, you can even get help from many online tech services and here are two examples of those service companies.

First, you have the SupportSpace and according to a SupportSpace review, what you just need is to call them up, give them all the information that pertains to the trouble of your unit and they will ask permission from you to take over your computer even though you are miles apart from them and you can have your PC fixed in no time.

There are some people who would go for support.com and a support.com review says, if you want the best online tech service go for something that has been in this business for a long, long time already and nothing can beat the ingenuity of a veteran when it comes to tech services for computers. They have been in existence since 1997 and their services are even availed by Fortune 100 companies. Now you now how trustworthy they are. But as always, it doesn’t really matter which of them you choose because each of them has its own unique way of helping you out when it comes to PC technical troubles.

When in the market for networking and networking solutions, it may occur to you that you will need a network engineer. A network engineer is one that must be familiar with the internal plumbing of a computer and network. This includes the T1 lines, configuring routers, and some UNIX work.An network engineer will need to know how to use basic devices in order to maintain the network. You must think on your feet as well as work long days in order to keep things up and running.

A computer network engineer can have special training in order to work on the system, but a lot of experience comes from the job itself. These types of engineers are information technology professionals that implement and design networks for computers. Some of the tasks that he or she will perform include media and protocols , networking devices, cables and network switches just to name a few of the things that an engineer is responsible for. The duties for an engineer differ from those that follow a network administrator. While some may have responsibilities for only one part of the network, others may be responsible for the entire network.

A network engineer is also responsible for maintaining and supporting the communications of the computers on the network. There are many different types of networks such as GANS (Global area networks) LANS (Local Area Network) or MANS (metropolitan area networks). This can also include duties such as monitoring network usage, providing training and support for those that have varying levels of IT knowledge. They also work closely with other departments to keep the system running.Managing websites and keeping internal networks going is another job of an engineer.

So you can see why a network engineer is so important to a network. Their duties are many and they work long hours. Without an engineer, the system and network would soon fail and leave a business stranded with no way to get the network back up again. The engineer will also be charged with possibly similar tasks to that of network administrators. So there is a lot of similarity and overlap from one to the next. However, a network engineer is more responsible for the network than the system administrator. So it is understood how important this position is in any company that has any kind of networking facilities.

There are many different computer services companies that are around. The question is, are they good enough? What do I mean, you may ask? There are many different sorts of computer companies. Some are good, some are horrible and some are fantastic. With that being said, how do you find any good computer companies when you need them? Do you search through a phone book or internet listing or do you go by reputation alone? There are many different ways to look for good companies for computers and everything computer related in order to find the one that fits your needs.

When you are looking for good computer companies, there are some things that you need to know in order to make an intelligent choice for your company. Here are some things to search for. Has the company been in business long? Can you check reference? How much experience do the computer technicians have in things such as IT, and do they have any certifications from the major IT services program providers? Do they update their training in IT.? Have they been in the same location? What are their prices for services and what is provided during those services?

The answers to these and other questions should give you a picture of the company. Ask to speak to current or previous customers so that you have a good idea of what the picture is. Is the premises clean? That alone will tell you what you need to know. Computer companies have a reputation to uphold and by getting the information, you can decide whether or not to pass on the company itself and find another one. For example, if a computer company has a bad reputation, you certainly do not want to do business with that company.

Something else you might want to ask of the company. Are they an independent services company or are they a chain of companies. Going with an independent company can often be the best idea and will save you money and time in the long term. Independent companies can often the best value for the money. Also another matter to think is if they are local or long distance. You want someone that will be there when you need them, not several hours away from you. Computer companies can be the kiss of death or the breath of life for small businesses.

So what do you want in computer companies? Reliability and dependability are 2 hallmarks of a good company. Someone local who has a high degree of training in all matters of the IT industry is another plus and should be considered seriously. We offer reliability, locality, dependability and professionally trained staff with over ten years experience. We also offer affordability and references upon request. With training by Microsoft, Cisco and Sun systems, our staff is fully prepared to take care of your every need. Contact us for more information by either emailing us at the link below or giving us a call to see how we can help you.

When you are talking about computers and computer systems, you need to know about remote computer support. What is remote computer services, you may ask yourself and how does it fit into my business? Remote programs allow you to control computers from a different location. There are programs that will allow you after downloading the software to access your computers from different places other than the work location. This allows you to monitor what is going on with the computers, hold meetings online as well as work on another computer remotely. This can be a godsend when you are not at your business and need to get files from your business computer.

There are many different programs that businesses can use to remotely use computers, whether ones in the business or others that can be accessed from a non work location. Remote support comes in when you have or need to get remote software and hardware for your company computers. This means that someone can help you to set up remote access as well as upgrade your system to allow for remote access. Support can also come in the form of a trained computer technician. This technician will be able to set up your access to the remote computer as well as troubleshoot any problems with same.

There are many program manufacturers of remote programs such as Symantec for business usage. Usually remote support entails a live help desk for the product in question. This is usually a 24 hour, 7 day a week access for those who have these types of programs on their mainframes and computers. With so many programs for remote access, what happens when you can’t reach the live helpdesk? This is where a locally trained remote support person will save the day.

This can be the difference between success and disaster. By having someone who is trained in remote support, you have a good chance of being able to completely remotely support your computer or computers from different locations. This is invaluable for business clients. Oftentimes a remote computer can give you the time to access material without being in the office. Now, how can you get this type of support? Our company offers remote support to all of our clients and our computer technicians are well versed in remote support. Remote support includes but is not limited to software and hardware, but also being able to fix any type of problem that the software or hardware will provide.

When you are running a business, you need someone that is knowledgeable about IT services in order to step in when a problem arises. So you need to know about network support both what it is and who is qualified to deliver such support. What is a computer network? A network is a business’s computers that are all connected via either LAN (Local Access Network) or via wireless and allows computers to share information as well as being online at the same time. This means printers, files ect. This can also include the use of internet messaging systems.

Network and computer services entails many different things. When you have a network, you are usually connected by both software and hardware enabling all computers to be operational. If any part of the system fails such as a computer crash or IT failure, then you need to have someone that is familiar with these types of systems and software in order to provide support for the network. Network support means that there are people who can help you with any type of trouble that a network could undergo from hardware to software problems as well as upgrades to mainframes of the business.

There are many different software systems such as Cisco and Sun that are used for networking. If you have a problem with these software packages, you must have someone that knows these system in order to help you get your network back up and running. By having network support, you can in a short amount of time get your network up and running again. You also have to look at upgrades to existing computer and mainframe systems as well as creating new systems that can better handle the workload and handle it more efficiently with no loss of the system.

Now with that being said, who would you turn to for network support? There are many places that you could turn to and many different things to consider. However are they right for you? Do they have the training in dealing with all sorts of network problems as well as be able to build a network from scratch for you? Do they have the computer training necessary to be able to handle any type of problem with the network, software or hardware that could crop up? Furthermore do they have years of experience in dealing with network support?
